Family Engagement
INTRODUCTION
Kirbyville CISD is committed to making parents/guardians, community members and educators
full partners. Our goal is to empower families to support the learning and development of children
and by providing families educational opportunities and resources to ensure lifelong success.
KCISD will establish the following family engagement strategies that are based on best
practices to support student learning and achievement. This document is based on the
individual needs of the early childhood students and parents of our campus, which will include
the six family engagement plan components.
Facilitate family-to-family support
● Activities building positive and productive relationships where families learn from each other
● Provide a safe environment at each campus to promote family engagement, considering
the different barriers that hinder family involvement.
● One Stop Registration and Meet The Teacher at the beginning of each year
● Curriculum Information Workshops
● Contacts with every parent from her/his child’s teacher before school begins
● Maintain and update campus/district websites throughout the academic year to provide
parents, students, and community with current information
● Continue to provide training and equipment in order to facilitate effective
communication, such as Skyward, and other technology integration including web pages
and grade information
● Utilize the automated phone call-out system to communicate mass messages to parents
at the district or campus level
Establishing a network of community resources
● Build community partnerships with community
● Maintain a relationship with city wide organizations to enhance adult and child learning
● Provide volunteer opportunities for community partners
● Provide information on Child Find for students
● Host Round-Ups annually for incoming PK and K students and their parents
Increase family participation in decision-making
● Families will be given the opportunity to give input on campus climate surveys and/or
feedback on various programs
● Parents will be included in the District Improvement Committee, as well as Campus
Improvement Committees
Equip families with tools to enhance and extend learning
● Individual family conferences at the end of each six weeks (or as needed) with every
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten parent to discuss their child’s academic progress
● Providing all Pre-K parents, a monthly calendar
● Weekly Homework and/or Information letters and digital resources from teachers
Developing staff skills in evidence-based practices that support families in meeting their children's learning benchmarks
● Provide staff training to ensure they build relational capacity with students and parents
● Provide professional development that focuses on crucial conversations
● Provide knowledge on the importance of family engagement and promote it district-wide.
Evaluate family engagement efforts and use evaluations for continuous improvement
● Set goals and meet with parents throughout the year in order to discuss the progress
● Share beginning-of-year and end-of-year progress data

In conclusion, Kirbyville Consolidated Independent School District hopes to use this Family
Engagement Plan to promote a shared responsibility between our school staff and parents. We
