General Program Description
Kirbyville CISD continues to support our Chromebook 1:1 initiative. This initiative puts a Chromebook devices in the hands of every student from 4th Grade - 12th Grade for them to use at school and at home for their school work.
The program also includes 1 device for every student in grades PreK - 3 in their classroom. Pre-K & Kindergarten have iPad carts and 1st - 3rd grades will use Chromebook carts in the classroom.
Optional Chromebook Accidental Insurance Program (Grades 4-12)
Kirbyville CISD offers an optional Chromebook Accidental Insurance program to cover repairs in the event of accidental damages that may happen to the Chromebook. The insurance is only $20 per Chromebook and covers up to 2 repairs of accidental damage during the currrent school year.
For more information about the insurance program please view the KCISD Chromebook 1:1 Insurance Program document. Insurance may be purchased during One Stop Registration at the Technology Table and from the Campus Library up to the 2nd week of school. A deadline date will be published each school year. After that date, insurance may only be purchased after an inspection of the Chromebook for damages by the Tech Team.
Chromebook Repairs
Any damages to a Chromebook should be reported to the Campus Library as soon as possible following the incident. Students will be required to complete a report form in their own handwriting explaining the details of how the damaged occurred.
If parents have a concern about a Chromebook issue, they may submit a Parent Helpdesk Form to notify the Tech Team about the Chromebook damage. This does not replace the student hand written form that must be completed in the Library upon delivery of the damaged Chromebook.
Security and Filtering
Kirbyville CISD is very dedicated to the safety and security of your children physically as well as electronically on the internet. As a part of our safety preparedness, the Chromebooks will have multiple layers of internet filtering. The first layer is the district CIPA (Childrens Internet Protection Act) filter and firewall while students are using them at school. We have installed on every Chromebook, the GoGuardian CIPA filtering product that will protect the Chromebook no matter what WiFi connection they are using, anywhere in the world.
