Dear Wildcat Family,
Kirbyville CISD is participating in the COVID-19 Rapid Testing Pilot Program for Texas school systems announced by Governor Greg Abbott. The Texas Education Agency (TEA), and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) are working with districts to implement this program. This progrm will allow employees and students (with permission from parents) to be tested free of charge with the BinaxNOW COVID-19 Rapid Ag test provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. KCISD will be administering the tests. While there is flexibility given in implementing this program, Kirbyville CISD will focus on symptomatic testing of students and staff at this time.
For symptomatic staff:
- Call Mackenzie Cucanctic at (409) 423-7500 ext 3129 to schedule a rapid test. Your test will be scheduled at the campus where you are employed. Your results will be available in 15 minutes insted of 3-5 days for PCR testing.
For symptomatic students:
- If your student has stayed home with COVID related symptoms, call Mackenzie Cucancic at (409)423-7500 ext 3129 to schedule a rapid test. Tell them your child is a student of Kirbyville CISD and specify campus. They will contact the school to confirm with that specific campus nurse.
- If your student is being sent home for COVID related symptoms by the school nurse, you will be given the option for them to be tested before.
The test is free, and you will not pay a copay. You must have the form with you to be tested. If a student has been tested for COVID-19 with the rapid test or any other test, you MUST notify the school nurse. In order to return to campus you must meet all requirements listed in the Safe Return-t0-School Protocol. Contact Mackenzie Cucancic, KCISD District Nurse, (409)423-7500 ext 3129 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your support.
