How does a band director end up as Tech Teacher of the Week you ask? Well it's simple, you embrace technology in a classroom not known for technology use, and you modify it's use to fit the needs of your students. That's exactly what our Director of Fine Arts, Jason Anderson, did this Fall.
When he heard that every student in his band classes, both Jr. High and High School, were going to have Chromebooks in their possession everyday, he and his staff went to work on how they could use them in the band class. They found Chromebook apps & extensions, Doctopus and Goobric, that allow them to save time and "technify" their music playoff's and tests.
That was only the start of the Tech Invasion of the KCISD Band and Choir programs. Since then the band staff continues to find apps and extensions to make use of the students Chromebooks to enrich the musical learning in their classrooms. The band staff and students are using, Google Classroom, School Video Recorder for Google Classroom, Waves Metronome, Tuner Apps, and Piano Apps.
Way to go Mr. Anderson! Salute you Yoda does!
