Computer Lab

One Goal of Kirbyville Elementary is to prepare our students to take part in the technological world that we live in now and build a platform for the technological world they will have in the future.

There are many teaching programs available to students in the computer lab. Here are some of the favorites.

Wild West Math - Students work on math skills, memorizing math facts in the area with a bucking bronco

ABC World -Younger students learn about letters and the sounds they make

Chuck Wagon Bill - Language Arts is on the menu with Bill, learning to recognize the different parts of speech, is this group of words a sentence or not, what goes at the end and then the beginning of sentences

Super Science Show - Great learning activities designed to encourage and interest in the Sciences

Clock Faces - Anyone who has had to wait on someone, can appreciate this program that works to teach time telling in fun ways

A Plus - Grade-level appropriate work on any subject that is covers in the class room, with charts, illustrations, as well as videos to excite and engage students

A portion of the Computer Lab is open during the school day for classroom teachers to bring in their students and use the lab's resources.

For example, if a class is studying Earth Science, their teacher can set up lesson on that topic in the teaching program A Plus. A time for the class to go to the lab would be arranged and then the class can study a lesson on erosion, or rock cycles. Their teacher can be there to facilitate the lesson A Plus presents or the class can move through the lesson together. What a great way to add to the curriculum!

Sixth grade students receive key-boarding instruction on the Ultra Touch program. Ultra Touch helps prepare these students for the demands that junior high will place on them.
